The Grip Master Genuine Leather Grips are engineered for modern slip on installation and the grip weights are in line with standard
rubber grips. (44g Undersize, 50g Standard and 56g Oversize +/- 2g)
We recommend The Grip Master Genuine Leather Grips be installed with double sided grip tape and solvent.
Before installing The Grip Master Genuine Leather Grips it is worth observing the old grips, noting any serious wear patterns particularly in
the thumb areas. If the old grips have excessive wear in these areas we recommend the Sewn and Laced models ahead of the Traditional
wrapped model.
1. Remove and clean any old tape from shaft.
2. Check end of the shaft for any sharp burrs as they can tear the grip underlisting if not removed.
3. Cover shaft with a full layer of double sided grip tape 9 1/2" down the shaft with approximately 1/2" extra extending over the butt end of the shaft.
PLEASE NOTE: It is NOT recommended to use more than 2 layers of tape under The Grip Master Genuine Leather Grips. If more than 2 layers of tape are required to build up the grip we recommend using an oversize grip model.
4. Prior to installation ensure that plenty of solvent is applied to both the tape on the shaft and the inside of the grip.
5. IMPORTANT: Do NOT bend or kink the grip before or during installation. Ease the grip onto the shaft by gradually rotating the collar of the grip onto the butt of the shaft. Only when the collar of the grip is completely over the butt of the shaft can the grip be pushed onto the shaft. Keep the grip in line (parallel) with the shaft. Do not bend or come from below or above the shaft when pushing the grip onto the shaft.
6. Do not force the grip onto the shaft. If the grip does not slide onto the shaft in an easy motion, remove the grip and apply more solvent.
7. Once the grip has been installed, check the alignment of the back Seam, Lacing or Rib to ensure that it did not become twisted during installation.
